About Hama no Utase
Fresh From the Seashore
More than 300 species of fish are caught here annually, including the largest amount of hairtail fish in Japan! This outstanding freshness resulting from such direct delivery from ocean to market is why we can offer you the best taste that will make you smile.
The Human Side of the Seashore
Long ago in the late Edo period of Japan, this was a small fishing village with 17 houses. Since then, it has grown into a full port-town with a rich and unique history and culture. Hama no Utase inherits this history and culture and carries it forward into the future.
Liveliness of the Seashore
In tandem with the returning fishing boats, hand carts begin moving. The hustle and bustle of the port is in itself a sight to behold. Visitors can feel the energy of all this activity up close; this way our locality will be known far and wide thanks to this new attraction.
